Creating a password reset disk

It is good to create a password reset disk because this disk will provide you access when you forget your password. follow these steps to create a password reset disk:

1) Open control panel and double click on User Account Panel.

2) Click your account icon.

3) Select Prevent A Forgotten Password under Related Tasks.

4) Insert the empty disk.

Put your name in Windows notification area

Change drive letter in Windows xp

When you insert a drive in computer, the drive letter is named by default but you can easily change the drive letter according to you. Just follow the simple steps to do so:

1) Right click on my computer and click manage.

2) Under computer management click on storage and then click disk management.

3) In the right pane list of various disk appears, right click on it and select change drive letter or path.

4) Select the drive letter you want to change.

Reboot the computer and finally you are done.

Enable/Disable Log off from Start menu

You can easily disable/enable log off from start menu by registry editing but if it is not properly edited it can cause problem so it good to disable/enable it using a free software XP SMlogoff. You can download it from here.

Save it on your drive and extract the .zip file. Once you have done, run .exe file.

A confirmation message will appear and now reboot your computer so that the changes can take place.

Lock the Desktop

Locking the desktop is good, when you are away from your computer for few minutes, it prevent other user from accessing your file without your permission. You can easily lock your desktop by pressing Win and L key. Change Internet Explorer title bar text

Create your own screensaver

Create a drive menu for My computer

By default the my computer icon in start menu is in standard windows folder form but you can convert it into drive menu form for your convinience for easy and fast access. If you want to access a particular drive you need to double click on it but if you create the drive menu you can directly access the drive just by following simple steps.

Follow these steps:


1)right click on the start menu button, then click on properties.
2)Select start menu tab and click on customize button.
3)Select advance tab, then scroll down advance menu item.
4)Search my computer, and click on display as a menu radio button.
5)Click ok twice.
Now when you select my computer a list of drive appear as the menu and you can access each and every drive individually.

Setting Dual monitors on your Laptop or Desktop:

Have you ever connected two or more monitors on your laptop or with your desktop. For connecting two or more monitors on desktop you need a graphics card that supports dual monitors, but generally all laptop are configured to connect atleast one desktop monitor to your laptop.Conecting dual monitors to your laptop has many benifits. eg: you can view amovie on other monitor while you are working with one or you can view the changes you are making to your website on one monitor when you are developing your website, you can also view more than one application together and much more. Just follow simple steps to connect a monitor to your laptop or desktop(if your graphics card supports dual monitors):

Some Basics:

1) Connect the second monitor to the first one and now decide which monitor you want to use as primary monitor and which one as secondary.
2) Right click on desktop and select properties and then click on settings tab.
3) Select the monitor which is primary and secondary and then click on second monitor view and check the "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor".
4) Click on the identity button, this will indicate which is primary and secondary monitor.
5) click on Apply button.
6) Drag the cursor to the secondary monitor and now you can view cursor on the secondary monitor.

NOTE: You will not see taskbar on the secondary monitor, you need to configure it and you will also see same wallpaper on both the monitors, you need to configure the wallpaper if you want to see same extended monitor on both the monitors.

Extending Taskbar to second monitor:

Extending same taskbar to both the monitors is very easy make sure that your taskbar is not locked. You can easily drag the taskbar to either of the monitors but if want to extend the taskbar to both the monitors there is a free utility called MULTIMON taskbar.You can easily download MultiMon This little utility adds a taskbar to your secondary monitor, and lists only the programs that are open on each screen in their respective ways.
There is another utility which does the same task called ULTRAMON which also extends wallpaper but you need to spend some money for it.

Extending same Wallpapers to both monitors:

When you select a wallpaper windows extend the wallpapers on both the screen by default i.e. you will see same wallpaper on both the screen.What if you have two monitors of different sizes, then you need to resize the wallpaper to extend the same monitor on both the screen.Here is a free utility to extend wallpapers called displayfusion. You can easily get this free licence software called DISPLAYFUSION. You need free .NET runtime to run this software. i.e. this software will only run when you have .net runtime installed on your laptop. This software supports both windows XP and Vista. There is another wallpaper management software called ULTRAMON but this is not a free utility, you need to spend some money to get this software.


Now you can use both the monitors together and enjoy its benefits.

Eg: ".in" for "India", ".us" for "United States of America", ".hk" for "Hong Kong", ".iq" for "Iraq", ".np" for "Nepal" and many more. Eg: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ here ".in" is the TOP LEVEL DOMAIN. Several Top Level Domain has been changed by Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. Eg: ".cs" was for several years the Top Level Domain (TLD) for Czechoslovakia.since the country got split into two parts Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, and the two new countries were soon assigned their own TLDs: ".cz" and ".sk" respectively.


SECONDARY LEVEL DOMAIN: These domain names are written just before or towards left of top level domain and after or towards right of third level domain. Eg: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ here ".gov" is the SECONDARY LEVEL DOMAIN. Further there are third level domain, Fourth level domain and so on.
